INITIAL GOAL OF DONATIONS
Initially we are seeking donations worldwide to set up a formal bootstrap, so low overhead, startup nonprofit organization, a US-based foundation with the name NAAION Foundation. It is to be manned by both volunteers and paid staff, that can operate internationally. Their task will be to make our rather unknown disease more visible. They will also encourage better test and treatment standards, as well as stimulate research.

The initial funding for the formation of this foundation has just been achieved via GoFundMe (see https://gofund.me/b2c2bf20). A board of board of directors and the daialy management team are now being established, followed by the official incorporation and registration as a charity with the IRS.

PROFESSIONALIZE WEBSITE
The foundation will also need to create an more professional informative well maintained website. Its purpose is to keep patients, family and doctors informed on the latest about NAAION. For the same reasons we will be organizing webinars, live local meetings and conferences.

ULTIMATE GOAL: BETTER OUTCOMES
All these activities we are focusing on achieving better care outcomes for us patients. Our ultimate purpose is to achieve less cases of full or partial blindness. We also are stimulating finding a future cure, like in the area of optic nerve regeneration.  A cure is not an IF anymore, but a WHEN.
